Primary Responsibilities:

  • Compiles financial statements for various Management and Labor customers in prescribed formats by collecting financial data from Peoplesoft General Ledger and other finance data repositories while ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Prepares standard daily and month-end journal entries pertaining to revenues and expense, reclassification entries and month-end reconciliations
  • Processes Monthly Payments on a daily or as needed basis using a standalone financial tracking system. This involves pulling data from various banking systems, verification of data on customer forms and investigating any variances
  • Works with UHG Treasury and Banking areas to ensure accuracy of daily banking transactions
  • Prepares multiple account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances
  • Prepares multiple fee billings utilizing data sources provided in an excel format and extracting data from unique systems
  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Assist in data control checks and validations, analyzing financial reports to identify data discrepancies or unusual trends, investigating with Railroad finance and/or IT team, working with the individual railroad accounts and summarizing findings and recommendations to senior team members
  • Contribute to team initiatives and reporting needs as requested
  • Support and help manage team documentation and organization
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes and identify areas of improvement
  • Develops expertise on internal UHG reporting systems including PeopleSoft, Essbase Smart-View, Railroad Remittance System, and banking system

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent financial experience
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups) and other Office applications
  • Proven ability to work with various systems and databases
  • Proven ability to go into the office 3 days a week

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GAAP accounting or reporting experience
  • Banking and Treasury/Wire room experience
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, Peoplesoft Financial System, SAS and/or SQL
  • Proven good oral and written communications skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills

Connecticut Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $58,300 to $114,300 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
