About the role:

CLA is looking to hire a Senior HR Business Advisor for our Talent Solutions practice in Chicago, IL. This role leads small and/or non-complex medium sized projects from beginning to end, including providing support and consultation to clients regarding compliance, employee life cycle transactions, HR policies/procedures, and employee relations, as well as contributing moderate business development work. They typically assume an HR outsourcing engagement that is temporary in nature or requires minimal weekly engagement. They contribute to prospective client sales calls and conduct work according to interpretation of policies, procedures, and regulations using independent judgement. They inform and provide recommendations to the end-client as well as solving complex or sensitive problems.

As a Senior HR Business Advisor, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies, practices, and employee handbooks to maintain compliance. Exhibits a depth of knowledge regarding philosophies, concepts, practices, laws and regulations in the fields of human resources, talent management, and employment law. Augments knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from end-client and directors. Leads employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Lead the implementation of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and ensures that HRIS and reporting requirements are accurate and up to date.
  • Develop novel/custom solutions for the administration and execution of human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Participates in meetings surrounding high level company strategy, such as organizational design, compensation planning, or succession planning. Performs complex or nonroutine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Review the work of assistants and provides constructive feedback on quality and accuracy. Trains Coordinator and Generalist levels on regular tasks of those jobs and delegates tasks as appropriate. May serve as a Pod or Growth Network leader with the goal of expanding Business Development experience.

What you will need:

  • 5 years of HR experience
  • Bachelor's degree required (combination of education, training, and experience may be considered a degree equivalent)
  • SHRM-CP or equivalent certification required (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
  • Strong computer skills in HRIS administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office products
