Job Summary: This position leads Palisades Tahoe resort in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial training, capital planning and reporting, revenue auditing and cash handling.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Member of senior leadership team for Palisades Tahoe Resort.
  • Provide financial leadership for finance and operational accounting team by guiding financial decisions and establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Lead resort level financial reporting in partnership with finance leadership in Denver.
  • Detailed financial analysis and strategic planning of operations supporting the Resort President, resort leadership team and the Denver accounting and finance team.
  • Supervise resort finance and accounting staff by coaching, counseling and mentoring as well as leading formal performance evaluations.
  • Provide Business Development Opportunities and Analysis.
  • Work directly with revenue management team on reporting and analysis.
  • Lead analysis of daily, weekly and monthly financial statements for all departments to ensure strong financial performance.
  • Communicate with operational directors and managers regarding policies and procedures, and hold them accountable for their operations' financial results.
  • Lead the annual business planning process, including development of operating budgets, capital plans, and the 5-year plan.
  • Lead the monthly forecast and variance process, developing monthly EBITDA forecasts to ensure adherence to the resort's business plan.
  • Manage the capital process, including creating investment memos, opening and closing projects, and monthly tracking and forecasting to ensure adherence to the annual capital budget
  • Oversee Purchasing department, focusing on driving adoption/adherence to Alterra Procurement policies and implement sourcing strategies to add value to the Resort
  • Lead year-end audit assistance in partnership with the Denver team.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place. Work with Denver team.
  • Ensure accurate daily reporting of operations revenue and labor.
  • Work with Denver team to facilitate month end close and ensure accuracy of financials.
  • Manage the creation, support and enforcement of policies, procedures and internal accounting controls.
  • Provide leadership on resort in resolution of accounting issues.
  • Lead financial training on resort when necessary.


Competencies and Job Requirements:

Required:
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Degree in Finance or Accounting, ten years of experience in a senior-level finance position, and a MBA and/or CPA.
  • Performance record should show success working with all levels of management and personnel.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and computer functionality required.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.


Education and Experience:

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Experience:
  • 10-15 years of experience in financial analysis and leadership


Travel Requirements
  • As needed, primarily to the Denver headquarters office or other Alterra Mountain Company resorts


The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base salary range: $127,850.08 - $178,990.11 per year

Office Environment:
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.

  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
