The Role

The Production Data Specialist is responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of the work order process within operations for a respective value stream. The role will work closely with supply chain peers, production personnel, and value stream leadership to ensure ERP data accuracy and actively mitigate issues that create discrepancies.

This role is located in Athens, Ohio.

The Responsibilities

  • Execute & Monitor ERP workorder process for respective value stream.

  • Accountable for the execution of ERP workorder processing, closing, and reporting.

  • Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all information is captured during each step of the workorder process, which includes monitoring and resolving production employee input & errors.

  • Management of inventory of specific materials in ERP System, work order WIP (Work In Progress) inventory.

  • Develop, manage, and execute process improvements identified from work order driven reports through standardized work processes.

  • Lead efforts and initiatives to prevent work order shortages and inventory discrepancies through analysis within production records to aid in the root cause analysis.

  • Oversight of the inventory control data in manufacturing warehouse(s) based on data originating from scrap reports, material transactional history and material shortage reports.

  • Ownership of work order and adjustment order variance analysis to aid in the root cause analysis and correction of BOM (Bill of Material) and Routing discrepancies.

  • Performs administrative duties in support of the Value stream.

  • Support Site leadership in audits or investigations relating to work orders and inventory transactions.

  • Prepares production documentation corresponding to required work orders and conducts the material issuance within the work order in the ERP system.

  • Collects, organizes, and distributes key metric data related to value stream work orders and inventory.

  • Works with cross functional teams to support data collection, visualization, and integration to support informed decision making.

  • Identifies, analyzes, interprets trends or patterns in production data sets and implements corrective actions as needed to ensure standard costs are met and leads change to achieve business objectives.

  • Supports Production and Finance leadership with ad hoc projects and necessary reporting.

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of activities and provide performance status to leadership as defined.

  • Performs other duties & projects as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • High School diploma required

  • Minimum of 2-3 years' operations/manufacturing experience

  • Methodical thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.

  • Team player able to work well across business operations and develop strong business teams.

  • Proficient in MS Excel.

  • Exceptional understanding of manufacturing business processes and general business accounting.

Preferred:

  • College education

  • Experience implementing LEAN principles in a manufacturing environment

  • APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS Certified Supply chain Professional (CSCP)

  • Knowledge of procedural documentation and material accounting control responsibilities

  • Knowledge of MRP, MPS, JIT, CRP, ERP2 and inventory management principles

  • Knowledge of ERP systems in a production environment is required, SAP

Supervisor of Production Planning, Production Leadership, Supply Chain and Production Engineering

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment. Some overtime may be required. Position requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasion. Up to 40% of the time in meetings, collaborating with team and on the manufacturing floor; 60% of the time at the desk on computer, walking, standing, or sitting extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
