HK Solutions Group is looking for a project Estimator to join our team. The Estimator position can be based in either Des Moines, IA; Lees Summit, MO; Rogers, MN; Jacksonville, FL; Sioux Falls or Watertown, SD.

The Estimator will interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and decipher technical specifications to aid in generating quotes and invoices, develop and maintain relationships with customers, process and schedule fabrication on new orders for the shop crew, coordinate and schedule shipping to customers, manage inventory levels, coordinate inventory shipments to customers, and coordinate field welding with our subcontractors.

Job Functions

• Responsible for design-build, conceptual and plans/specs estimating
• Analyze project specifications, including but not limited to sketches, blueprints and sample layouts, to determine estimated costs and pricing
• Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment required to meet the provisions of the contract
• Solicit and review quotes from vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
• Assisting operations with subcontractor procurement
• Work with the operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans, specifications and general project requirements
• Detailed knowledge of pricing and costs for materials, labor, subcontractors and equipment for all trade disciplines
• Ability to manage multiple preconstruction projects
• Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
• Lead and coordinate design team on awarded projects including thorough drawing review
• Builds effective relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors and clients
• Review awarded projects and compare cost on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate
• Facilitate continuous process improvement of the estimating procedures
• Responsible for turning in daily reports (estimate log/project tracking)
• Develop comprehensive process to establish scope of work prior to beginning of project estimation
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Computer skills, including proficiency using Microsoft office suite
• 2+ years experience with estimating site work
