Responsibilities

The Laboratory Tech Associate, under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology and microbiology to provide information for diagnosis and treatment of disease. The associate must be able to perform routine maintenance of equipment and be familiar with federal requirements in regards to quality control, Medicare compliance and HIPPA.


Qualifications

A. High School graduate or equivalent
B. Bachelors Degree in Biological, Chemical or Physical Sciences preferred
C. Some knowledge of medical terms
D. Ability to read, write and speak English
E. Excellent verbal, written and clerical skills
F. Must successfully complete a three month on the job training program. Program will include: identification of results, interrelationship between various tests, operation and maintenance of complex laboratory equipment, familiarity with department policies and procedures.
G. Able to meet the physical demands as required by ADA
H. Ability to work independently without constant supervision
I. Interacts wtih other hospital departments as pertinent to department and maintains a cooperative relationship intra- and inter-departmentally
J. Ability to work effectively and professionally with patients and their families
