Overview

RTI International seeks a prospect for the Technical Training & Assistance (TTA) Administrative Support Internship within the Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences (SSES) unit.

This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI's supplemental staffing partner.

In the Justice Practice Area our work is building the evidence base to advance justice, safety, and resilience in our communities. We seek to (1)understand the prevalence, characteristics, and correlates of crime and victimization and (2) develop and assess strategies to promote safety, accountability, and resilience. We are organized around the primary stakeholders in and consumers of our research, evaluation, quality assurance, and knowledge translation projects. These stakeholders include victim services providers, public health entities, law enforcement, and agencies in judicial and correctional systems, as well as the communities that these agencies and systems serve. The Justice Practice Area includes a wide variety of experts to lead and support projects that encompass cross-sector and multidisciplinary approaches to advance science and promote justice. The most important aspect of what we do is conducting work that is practical and impactful to the agencies and individuals working to promote justice, safety, and resilience.

We are seeking an intern to work on various Justice Practice Area Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) programs, led by RTI International and in partnership with a team of subject matter experts. These programs offer expertise and assistance to jurisdictions as they establish widespread, evidence-based, sustainable practices for varying forensic programs. The intern will assist the project team with tasks such as organizing training materials, performing training material queries, and assisting with development of a searchable training content management system. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist with the development of client dashboards and creating Standard Operating Procedures for TTA projects.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of how TTA materials need to be managed and compliant with DOJ guidelines
  • Gain an understanding of how TTA professions need platforms to effectively track and monitor TTA deliverables to be in compliance with DOJ award guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Review and organize training content related to collecting and processing forensic evidence, investigating and prosecuting sexual assault cases, and supporting multi-disciplinary teams across the criminal justice system.
  • Assist with the categorization and matching of services and resources to specific needs and responsivity factors.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide feedback and suggestions.
  • Planning for creation of database, coordinating, organizing PPT materials into database.
  • Creating and developing effective SOPs and checklist for the technical and administrative review of training materials.

Additional Information

This virtual paid internship will take place from June 2024 through August 2024. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student pursuing a degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, public policy, business, or related field.
  • Ability to develop and create databases through Smartsheet or other similar tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing clear SOPs and/or creating informative, comprehensive checklists.
  • Experience in building simple web forms and organizing received data either through project management tools or excel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
