Team Description:

The Public Cloud platform team is looking for a talented and experienced architect to play a key role in advancing Cloudera's product offerings in the cloud.

Since its origin, Cloudera has enabled to effectively manage and gain insight into their data leveraging both on-premises and cloud infrastructure. We are now working on providing a unified data platform that enables customers to effortlessly access, manage and leverage data --.

This team builds the control plane of (CDP). It enables a coherent experience for operators of enterprise data clouds to manage and provision workloads for their users. Key considerations in building the control plane include robustness, scalability, portability and consistent APIs whether the control plane is operated by Cloudera or by customers, in public clouds or private datacenters. This is a cross-functional team that defines frameworks to enable Cloudera's developers in building applications for different kinds of workloads.

As a Principal Engineer, you will:
  • Work on the Public Cloud Platform that includes Multi Tenant Control plane, Data Plane foundational pieces such as Data Hubs, Free IPA, Cloud networking, Metering modules etc.

  • Architect and implement highly scalable and available (99.99 SLA) next gen Hybrid Control Plane that can manage both public and private cloud deployments.

  • Evangelize, architect, design, and implement the new shared services platform on Data Plane.

  • Be a core voice in influencing a wide set of factors related to platform and product definition, technical architecture, engineering quality and modern project delivery principles.

  • Lead cross-functional engagements with peer teams including Product Managers and mentor junior engineers on the team.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with other R&D architects to strategize big bet initiatives and to make sure there is an alignment & synergy across products.

  • Represent Cloudera with many of our largest customers at industry events.

We're excited about you if you have:
  • A MS/BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience in industry.

  • 15+ years of experience building highly scalable distributed systems with at least 8+ years of experience in building SaaS at scale with a focus on maintainability, operability, and security.

  • Java preferred, but we're equally happy hiring people versed in C++/C#/Scala/Go.

  • Deep understanding of algorithms and data structure fundamentals.

  • Proven experience in architecting, designing and implementing features in large distributed systems that scale well.

  • Ability to work in a distributed setting with team members spread across multiple geographies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on large cross-functional projects, including strong written communication skills and a collaborative mindset, as you will be working with many teams inside and outside of Cloudera.

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

You may also have:

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • AWS Cloud Solutions or equivalent certification is a huge plus.

  • Experience working on Multi-Tenant Control Planes.

  • Experience with containerization technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with microservices and API development.

  • Experience with continuous integration environment and continuous deployment model.

  • Evangelize and strategize new initiatives.
