To strengthen our team in Eddyville,
we are looking for you as a(n) Chemist Intern.

The Chemist Internship the focus on benchtop reactor experiments will drive two outcomes: 1) Ability to calculate payback for additional reactor and reaction retention time that would occur, 2) Determine impact of other selected parameters on reactor yield to justify in plant trials or control changes.

Secondarily, this person will determine impacts of different sample conditions for removal fats from liquified starches using different grades of carbon and resin technologies while also identifying potential other uses for newly installed FTNIR instrument (lab instrument).

Objectives

  • Determine yield benefit of additional reaction time, work with Project Team to develop payback based on this information for additional reactors
  • Determine potential yield impact of other key reaction parameters that will aid in implementing further in plant testing or control changes.
  • Determine fat removal efficiency of different technologies, enabling planning for further larger scale piloting
  • Identify potential testing for FTNIR that can be investigated - if time allows, also determine wet chemistry method that would be used to calibrate the FTNIR
  • Present findings to intern peers and business team stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Candidate shall be a Junior or Senior working towards a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or similar
  • Must be capable of completing basic wet chemistry analytics.
