Overview

Clinical NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

JOIN AN ESTABLISHED, GROWING HOSPITAL-OWNED PRACTICE

St. Luke's Hospital, a national Top 100 Hospital designee in 2023 for the 9th time, is recruiting a full-time Clinical Neuropsychologist to join the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The rehab team provides full spectrum rehab and psychological care for patients including acute, inpatient rehab, and a multitude of outpatient services.

The primary focus of this position will be adult outpatient evaluations. Top referral sources include rehabilitation, neurology, and primary care providers. Inpatient consultation on the rehabilitation unit and acute care units are possible if desired. This is primarily a clinical position, though

there is support for interests in training and research. The new hire will join an established group of two health psychologists and two neuropsychologists, and partner closely with other care providers including rehab physicians, hospitalists, primary care, therapists, and social work.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology with a specialization in neuropsychology.
  • Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology.
  • Licensed or license eligible in the state of Iowa.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to complete work independently and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary professional team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting is preferred, but not required.

* Examines patients/clients - obtains history, performs a systems review, and selects and administers or supervises the administration of discipline- and age-specific tests and measures to obtain data

* Evaluates patients/clients - makes clinical judgments based on data gathered during the examination

* Develops patient/client diagnoses or problem lists (cluster of signs and symptoms)

* Develops patient/client prognoses

* Develops and implements patient/client interventions, including delegating and supervising support staff

* Provides patient and family education and training

* Formulates and implements patients' discharge plans in collaboration with others

* Collaborates with hospital departments and community agencies to deliver coordinated care

* Completes appropriate documentation for all patient/client encounters in accordance with hospital and professional standards

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology, counseling psychology or neuropsychology

Experience:

Supervised training and experience in neuropsychology during practicum years. Completed APA approved internship. Completed postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology. Previous experience working as a neuropsychologist in hospital preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

Must be Iowa Licensed Psychologist and Iowa Health Service Psychologist. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Previous experience in acute hospital and rehabilitation setting is preferred. Basic computer knowledge and skills.
