Construction Project Manager

We're looking for a full-time, staff Construction Project Manager 3, Facilities Construction to join our American Ordnance team located in Middletown, IA.

Work with contractors, Government partners and internal AO employees to coordinate and manage all construction and implementation activities associated with projects. May be assigned a single large project or multiple projects. Project examples: replacement and upgrades of various major systems, construction of new facilities, construction of production buildings.

As the Position Title, here's the work you'll do:
  • Collaborate with project staff to include subcontract engineering firms as well as internal and external customers to conceptualize, design, bid, and execute projects. Collaborate with other project managers to share problems and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of subcontract management to determine organizational approach and coordination to accomplish projects contractual requirements. Develop and facilitate the program management plan and customer communication.
  • Extensive knowledge of project financial costing and budget controls. Ability to strategically execute the contract. Independently manage, create, and provide accurate estimates and project scope.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work for proposing and bidding projects. Manage cost, quality, schedule, and communication plans. Develop and implement contingency plans to address specific executional needs. Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.
  • Build strong Customer relationship network and acts as a subject-matter expert for all aspects of contract services and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare periodic progress and cost reports, presentations and required documentation for contract deliverables.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in writing and verbally to individuals or groups of people.
  • Able to design and estimate commercial construction projects and define a scope of work using proven methods.
  • Multitask and effectively problem solve. Work with teams to reach solutions to issues that may hinder project progress.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Project, and other software programs.
  • Advanced commercial HVAC & electrical knowledge; Computer aided drafting; ArcGIS; and Familiarity with GPS surveying techniques.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or related field or 10+ years equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • US Citizenship required; Secret Clearance may be required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Preferred.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background screening process.


In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $86,800 - $130,200. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
