Job Description
Position Summary

Provides surveying service to company supervision and crafts to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Reviews plans and computes for superintendent and his organization any information required to make progress with the work
  • Measures and accurately computes quantities of work complete and records those quantities in a daily record using engineering notation and location descriptions that can easily be identified in the project plans and specifications
  • Administer/manage/schedule all surveyors (including subcontracted) assigned to the project
  • Organizes and supervises project survey work
  • Responsible for the layout (vertical and horizontal) control work using all survey equipment
  • Compares in place work against drawings and specifications to assure overall accuracy as needed
  • Stakes accurately and completely before work begins
  • Performs minor surveying (replacing disturbed/missing stakes, normal construction layout, etc.)
  • Enforces and adheres to all company safety policies
Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
  • Responsible for the day to day lay-out requirements, utilities, slopes, etc
  • Responsible for blasting operations, including elevation, staking for charges, etc.
  • Maintain GPS equipment for heavy equipment
  • Maintain robotic instruments as the relate to heavy equipment
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Knowledge of deep fill and deep cut
  • 1-year prior construction surveying experience preferred
  • Experience with Trimble and/or Topcon GPS systems preferred
  • Experience with Robotic Total stations is preferred but not required
  • Effective and Efficient decision maker
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic math skills
  • High school level language and speaking skills

The employee will need to be able to travel to and from work office and project site.

The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
