Certified Medical Assistant - Waukee Family Medicine

Waukee, Iowa

Full-time Benefit Package!

8 hour shifts / flex scheduling


Responsibilities

As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with Waukee Family Medicine, you play a vital role in providing comprehensive support to healthcare professionals and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care to a diverse population of patients, of all ages. This is a fun and fast-paced environment, with a focus on patient centered care and collaboration among healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of clinical, administrative, and patient-centered tasks within the family medicine practice.

  1. Patient Care:

    • Greet and prepare patients for examination, recording vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
    • Assist healthcare providers in medical procedures, examinations, and minor surgical interventions.
    • Administer medications, vaccinations, and other treatments as directed by healthcare providers.
  2. Administrative Duties:

    • Manage patient appointments, coordinate referrals, and maintain accurate patient records.
    • Answer phone calls, address patient inquiries, and provide information regarding appointments and services.
  3. Laboratory and Diagnostic Support:

    • Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing.
    • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and point-of-care testing.
    • Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures and coordinate follow-up care.
  4. Patient Education:

    • Provide patients and their families with information on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care.
    • Offer guidance on lifestyle modifications, disease management, and health promotion.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to ensure seamless patient care.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the improvement of clinical processes.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Mandatory Reporter.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
