Overview

The Process Improvement Coordinator position is responsible for serving employees of Unity Point Health - Des Moines by using scientific methods that guide teams and improve processes, and to advance ingraining process improvement into the culture. This position is responsible for educating employees on process improvement methodologies (Adaptive Design and others), and facilitating process improvement teams and activities. This position extensively uses root cause analysis skills to determine how healthcare processes may be improved.

Responsibilities

Identifies problems

* Identifies opportunities for process improvement, and works with others to define problems.

Gathers information

* Captures information via direct observations, interviews, literature review, or information systems.

* Creates process maps.

Form Hypotheses

* Predicts testable changes could improve the identified problem.

Experiments or Test with Data

* Experiments via PDSA

* Performs Root Cause Analysis: 5 Why's, Fishbone, FMEA, etc.

* Analyzes data by creating graphs, histograms, run charts

Analyze Results and draw conclusion

* Synthesizes multiple sources of information


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Preferred or Specialized

Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Master's Degree

Experience:

Process improvement methods and tools, facilitation, and/or training in a clinical/nursing setting

5 years healthcare work experience

License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Certification in Healthcare Quality, Lean, Six Sigma, or related

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Professionalism

* Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English

* Advanced knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser
