This engineer will be working collaboratively with project and shop floor operation teams to deliver products and assembly capabilities that meet the quality promise we make to our customers. This role will have a significant impact on the profitability of the Storm Door Division and the experience our customers have through its products!

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


*Provide operational technical support for existing applications and processes.

*Support the development of programs, training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for critical production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability of lineal profile extrusions.

*Analyze data; develop proposals focused on improvements and present to management. Improvement areas include safety/quality/delivery/cost, overall customer satisfaction and reducing process variation.

*Develop metrics to show status and improvements with regular reporting. Study and understand the cause and effect relationship of the critical process variables to the desired product attributes. Use Statistical Process Control to identify out-of-control conditions and define/execute plans to reduce process variation.

*Work closely with production supervisors, team leads, and production employees to perform problem solving and root cause analysis

*Provide technical guidance to develop, evolve and improve existing tooling and processing capabilities.

*Collaborate with other peers and leaders to share technical expertise and best practices especially with similar processes to achieve short and long term corporate strategies and their integration with broad and complex technical challenges.

*Keep informed on supplier offerings and developing technologies to determine opportunities worth pursuing.

*Assist in the development and verification of new test standards and equipment to meet the changing and growing customer requirements.

*Participate in developing curricula for use within technology areas and providing general training.

*Assess current vs. future capacity requirements and implement capacity improvements.

*Improve equipment capability and reliability

*Identify opportunities for error proofing and implement solutions

*Respond to day to day production needs such as equipment troubleshooting and quality concerns

*Manage the design, procurement, and startup of capital equipment projects

*Develop operator balance charts, machine balance charts, and staffing playbooks for assembly work cells

*Partner with ongoing product development team to implement product design changes and line extensions Be highly visible within the value stream to create a safe environment for collaboration and participation

*Promote a hands on, high involvement approach to problem solving

*Analyze and recommend engineering or design solutions (Root cause analysis, DOE and other appropriate techniques) to product, process, design, or other technical issues.

*Evaluate impact of proposed product/process changes on other products, materials, strategies, or other technical issues.

*Accountable for all documentation requirements for a functional area.

*Works independently on most aspects of work.

*Receives general direction with occasional work review on other aspects.

*Works within guidelines established by general practice, precedents and policies.

*Review of work occurs after the fact.

*Has considerable latitude in deciding how to accomplish assignments.

*Effective communications with all levels of internal and external customers and staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:

*BS degree in Engineering.

*Has considerable versatility in applying specialized technical knowledge in a wide variety of situations.

*Possesses knowledge across a wide variety of technologies.

*Knowledge demonstrates mastery in several technical areas of expertise.

*Possesses unique or specific knowledge that is frequently sought out by others.

*Strong understanding of the interrelationship that needs to exist between functional areas the business.

In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
