The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC), a joint research center of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, was established in 1986, and for over 35 years has provided university, government and industrial researchers with access to several of the most powerful systems for sophisticated computational research, communications and data storage available to scientists, engineers and scholars nationwide for unclassified research. PSC advances science across a wide spectrum of fields including artificial intelligence / machine learning, medical imaging, weather modeling, cell biology, and genomics.
PSC seeks a highly motivated, innovative, and hardworking individual with deep technical expertise to assist the Scientific Director in advising and executing the scientific vision of the center. PSC's recent successes have made it vital to establish this new key leadership position at the center to enhance the success of our many exciting projects, take advantage of the opportunities generated by those projects, and build on those successes to develop new strategic opportunities for growth.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead at the cutting edge of high-performance computational and data science. Current major projects include leading the infrastructure and engagement for major NIH data initiatives (HuBMAP: hubmapconsortium.org, SenNet: sennetconsortium.org, BIL: brainimagelibrary.org); national NSF research computing infrastructure and support (Bridges-2: psc.edu/resources/bridges-2, ACCESS: access-ci.org, NAIRR: nsf.gov/cise/national-ai.jsp); innovative artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) infrastructure (Neocortex: cmu.edu/psc/aibd/neocortex); and unique special-purpose supercomputers in collaboration with industry partners (Anton 2: psc.edu/resources/anton-2).
