Position Summary

The primary role that the Project Engineer has is responsibility for overall technical leadership, direction, coordination, planning, initiation, execution, control and monitor, and close out of the project. Additionally, the Project Engineer serves as the technical liaison between the project technical team and both internal Project Management / Sr. Leadership and external Project Customers. It is the responsibility of the Project Engineer to ensure consistency with Company strategy, commitments, and goals. As a result of this relationship, there are several "core" responsibilities that the Project Engineer owns.

Duties & Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Overall technical responsibility, accountability, and leadership of project; including selection of, provide technical direction of, and support of the project team
  • Define project technical roles and responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall safety and quality culture of the project
  • Work with Program/Project Manager (PM) to develop and execute project technical scope, budget, and schedule (i.e. basis of estimate / technical baseline) based on evaluation of Statement of Work (SOW) and Requirements flow down
  • Develop Engineering Execution Plan (EEP)
  • Work with PM, System Engineer (SE), and other engineering disciplines to identify changes affecting technical baseline scope, budget, or schedule and initiate and monitor appropriate change management process
  • Develop technical aspects of the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) in conjunction with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) - coordinating with PM as necessary
  • Collaborate and partner with PM and Assistant PM (if applicable)
  • Identify required technical resources, communicating gaps, or deficiencies to Project and Business Unit leadership as necessary, and provide tasking and direction to assigned technical personnel
  • Serves as liaison between Project Management (PM) / Sr. Leadership and technical team
  • Serves as liaison and primary technical point of contact with Customer
  • Serves as liaison between technical team and other representatives on the Integrated Project Team (IPT)
  • Identify project risks (technical, budget, and schedule) and elevate to PM for tracking
  • Support customer meetings as primary technical point of contact

Ancillary Duties

  • Ensure proper application, utilization, and governance of OES Project Control Processes
  • Support monthly Project Management Reviews (PMRs)
  • Create baseline earned value plan for technical resources and then provide review and update of status against baseline during project execution
  • Identify required technical tasks and direct project functional resources to perform these tasks as necessary
  • Identify project technical requirements (including customer, industry, and system performance specifications) and ensure compliance
  • Lead feasibility and trade studies as necessary
  • Identify all required technical deliverables and associated tasking as necessary
  • Develop technical content of SOWs for major sub-contracted technical work
  • Lead regular technical team coordination and planning meetings, provide meeting minutes (including actions) to project team
  • Review and approve all technical deliverables, including drawings and tech docs
  • Create project variance and waiver requests as necessary
  • Work with PM to identify, document, and price change requests and change orders as necessary
  • Review and approve all assembly work instructions (followers)
  • Review and approve all Engineering Releases for Production (ERPs)
  • Ensure all deliverables are complete, meet expected standards of quality, and are ready for customer transmittal as required per schedule milestones
  • Support non-conformance dispositions as necessary
  • Coordinate, manage, and maintain system documents, including interface definitions, with Systems Engineers, SMEs, and customer/vendors as necessary
  • Coordinate/plan with SE/SR&M/SMEs as necessary all assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) activities and required technical support resources including identification of test leads, shift support, and travel as necessary
  • Review and approve all test plans and procedures
  • Contribute to technical team performance reviews (but does not include input to annual merit adjustments)
  • Provide informal mentorship to project technical resources
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist in sales efforts and expansion of customer base
  • Travel as required (up to 25%)
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Minimum BS in Engineering required

DESIRED

  • Advanced technical (related) degree; Advanced cross-functional (i.e. MBA) degree
  • Professional License and/or Industry Organization Memberships (i.e. Professional Engineer, PMP, ASTM)
  • Experience and skill in the technical definition and management of a project across the life cycle
  • Knowledge of design and configuration management software such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, MATLAB, Rockwell Software, and EPDM
  • Technical leadership experience on themed entertainment and/or autonomously guided vehicle (AGV, AV) project(s)
