Oceaneering Space Systems (OSS) is a precision engineering and manufacturing group which specializes in turn-key design, development, manufacturing, certification, maintenance, and testing of extra-vehicular and intra-vehicular (EVA & IVA) tools and equipment for astronauts; including life support and environmental control systems for space; robotic systems for military, space, and biological research; and thermal protection systems for launch vehicles. Position Summary

The Autonomous Systems Software Engineer will develop methods to integrate task planning and scheduling into autonomous spacecraft systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop methods to integrate task planning and scheduling into autonomous spacecraft systems.
  • Assess technologies for the development of advanced autonomous task execution.
  • Develop methods to ensure plans respect resource constraints.
  • Develop technology to enable large scale, distributed task planning and scheduling.
  • Work with Flight Software experts to integrate planning technologies into flight critical software.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting Relationship

  • This position reports to the Project or Program Manager.

Qualifications

Required:

  • The candidate must have a minimum B.S. degree in engineering or in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited university with 0-5 years experience.
  • Advanced degrees in relevant disciplines may be counted as experience.
  • Experience with constrained task planning or scheduling algorithms, such as MILP and temporal logic-based approaches.
  • Experience with complex distributed systems.
  • Experience using task planning, scheduling, and task execution technologies on cyber physical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong customer service attitude.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Experience developing software across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with embedded processors.
  • Spacecraft Avionics and Software Architecture.
  • NASA software and systems development standards.
  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding.
  • Proficiency with Linux.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python.
