This position can be based in Washington, DC or may be remote. 20-25 hours/week through May 2022IFAW is a global animal welfare and conservation nonprofit. We see the world as it is, and we're compelled to make it better.IFAW seeks a Social Media Intern to join its Content Team in Washington, DC from September 2021 until May 2022. Working closely with social media staff as well as the Digital Marketing Team, the position will support social media mentions monitoring, scheduling and posting, copy creation, analytics and measurement, and content sourcing. We are looking for a dedicated, creative candidate who is passionate about IFAW's mission and wants to add value to a global organization.Please be prepared to take a writing test if selected for an interview.Role and ResponsibilitiesMonitor social media mentions daily.Respond to comments and inquiries daily across IFAW's social channels.Assist with writing social copy for daily posts and larger campaigns, under clear guidance.Assist with monitoring and reporting on social performance.Assist with conceptualizing and creating compelling content like interactive Instagram stories and short-form videos for platforms like TikTok.Source on-brand assets and content.Perform basic digital photo and graphic design enhancements.Liaise with internal and external teams when required with professionalism, following up to appropriate personnel.Stay up-to-date with trends and conversations happening on social media and assist in adapting them for IFAW's channels.Qualifications and Education RequirementsExceptional attention to detail.Ability to collaborate with others, work independently, take on tasks as assigned, and manage own time effectively in a fast-paced environment.Advanced knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.Experience measuring and reporting on social media analytics and data.Experience with Socialbakers or other social media management platforms.Excellent written communication skills.Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.Prior digital fundraising experience a plus.Video editing experience a plus.Bachelor's degree or current student in relevant discipline preferred.At IFAW, we aim to create and foster a workforce that reflects and contributes to the diverse, global community in which we work to improve the lives of both animals and people.
