Resume Branding 101: The Rule of Difference

If I were to say Tiger Woods you would immediately think what? Golf. If I were to say Tom Brady you would say football. What about McDonalds? You don’t go to McDonalds because it reminds you of Subway and you definitely don’t go to Subway because it reminds you of McDonalds. What is my point here? You know the difference. You know what makes each one of these people and places different and it provokes an image in your head.

When you say your own name what comes to mind? What makes you different and what are you known for? If you can’t think of something specific then you haven’t branded yourself or made a niche for yourself yet. The first step to branding your resume, yourself and your job search is to think about what makes you different, unique, and valuable! What do you offer that no one else can?

Take this information and use it to your advantage and brand yourself!
